Midnight May Monday-eclectic
musical eloquence from
innovativ inspirational duet
Karen Tweed and Timo Alakotila

Innovative inspirational Anglo Scandinavian
duet Karen Tweed and Timo Alakotila received
phenomenal praise and accolades for the
artistic grace and beauty of their debut cd
'May Monday',including 'Album of the Year'
by BBC Radio 3 presenter,Fiona Talkington.

Part folk, part jazz, part
classical inspired,critics
hailed it for it's ability to
break down musical barriers
and now,some seven years
later,the duet have reunited
to produce an equally
beautiful and diverse album.
'Midnight May Monday'
sees the mercurial and
mesmerising accordionist
Karen Tweed and the
sublimely subtle pianist Timo
Alakotila weaving intricate,
yet haunting melodies into
vivaciously colourful
tapestries of sound.
Karen,the daughter of
an lrish mother and an
English father grew up
in Wellingborough,
Northamptonshire. She won
various accolades in the lrish
music Fleadhanna circuit and
trained as an Art teacher
before turning to music
professionally at 27.Her
astoundingdly deft,dexterous
and occasionally daft playing
(she has a wicked sense of
humour)has led to her
appearing on over 30 albums.

The new CD brings Tweed
and Alakotila's new
compositional work to the
fore,while embracing
melodies composed by
Chris W ood,Andy Cutting,
Antti Järvelä,Roger Tallroth
and Emma Reid...plus their
much loved traditional
repertoireThey are joined
on the CD by Emma Reid
(fiddle- England/ Sweden),
Roger Tallroth(guitars-
Sweden)Ursula Leveaux
(bassoon- England),Neil
Yates( flugelhorn- England),
John Dipper( fiddle-
